Top Private Health Insurance Options

All Private Health Insurance in the United States will fall into one of the four different categories listed below, we are here to help you find which is the best option for your needs.

#1 Defined Benefit Plan

Defined Benefits Plans A.K.A. Hospital and Doctor Indemnity Plans pay first dollar coverage with access to PPO Networks as well.  In addition, most plans do not have a deductible.  These are the most recommended plans for anyone who is mostly in good health and in the middle income range or higher. These plans use the largest PPO networks in the country.

#2 Short Term Medical

Short Term Medical Plans have set terms from 3 months to 12 months.  These plans are similar to traditional major medical plans in that they have deductibles, co-insurance and in most cases, copays as well.  These are also a viable option to Obamacare. However, they do terminate at the end of the term. Meaning, you will have to reapply and if you have remained healthy re-qualify for the plan.

#3 Health Share Ministries

Health Share Ministries have become quite popular for individuals and families that want an alternative to traditional insurance in general.   They all have MSRAs which stands for "Minimum Sharing Responsibilty Amount."  These plans pay claims based on member participation.

#4 ACA Marketplace

ACA Plans are the only permanent major medical plans available in the United States. These are traditional insurance options, as they have deductibles, co-insurance, and in most cases, copays. These plans are best for low income individuals who would qualify for a subsidy or individuals with serious pre-existing conditions. If you do not qualify for a subsidy, these plans easily become unaffordable.
